In June, Hermit Crab cameto a group of snails crawling over a rock on the ocean floor. Theygrazed as they went, picking up algae and bits of debris, andleaving a neat path behind them.
“How tidy and hard working you are!”said Hermit Crab. “Would one of you be willing to come and helpclean my house?”
“I would,” offered one of thesnails.
Happily, Hermit Crab pickedit up with his claw and placed it on his shell.

“I can’t see!” said thesnail.
“It’s like nighttime!” cried the seaurchin.

But in November, HermitCrab felt that his shell seemed a bit too small. Little by little,over the year, Hermit Crab had grown. Soon he would have to findanother, bigger home.
But he had come to love hisfriends, the sea anemone, the starfish, the coral, the sea urchin,the snail, the lanternfish, and ever the smoothpebbles.
“They have been so good to me,”thought Hermit Crab. “They are like a family. How can I ever leavethem?”
但是到了十一月，寄居蟹感觉他的壳看上去有点小。一点一点地，过了一年，寄居蟹长大了。不久，他又要去找另外一个更大的家了。

In December, a smallerhermit crab passed by.
“I have outgrown my shell,” shesaid.
“Would you know of a place forme?”
“I have outgrown my house, too,”answered Hermit Crab. “I must move on. You are welcome to livehere but you must promise to be good to myfriends.”
“I promise,” said the littlecrab.

“Sponges!” he thought. “Barnacles!Clown fish! Sand dollars! Electric eel! Oh, there are so manypossibilities! I can’t wait to getstarted!”
接下来的1月，寄居蟹走出来了，小寄居蟹搬进去了。
”永远也不能待在那个小壳里了，“寄居蟹挥手告别。
海底看上去比他记忆中的更广阔了，但是寄居蟹不害怕了。
不久，他就找到一个完美的房子了 一个大的，空的壳。他看上去还不错，就是有点朴素...
